This was a difficult unit for me to learn and will require further study for me to feel fully prepared to teach the skills and information. Some of the concepts, such as intonation and stress, were familiar concepts and the knowledge easily recalled. The techniques to help students learn them will be helpful.
The Phonemic Symbols were like \"Greek\" to me at first! Once I spent time practicing each sound and spelling different words, it began to make sense, but this is an area where I'll need to study more. Memorization will be required in order to appear confident and credible in front of my students. The Places and Manners of Articulation were challenging to learn and the science behind how I speak was fascinating. When I teach this science of pronunciation to my students will vary with the level of existing knowledge and whether I am building on that knowledge or working with beginners.
