Unit 19: Teaching Special Groups
Teaching Children of a younger age is what I want to specialize in so I found this Unit very interesting.
How to engage them: Games, repetitive drilling, songs, colouring in, making sure that you engage them at their level is something that makes sense and comes naturally to me.
Teaching adults in the business world would be more challenging, however equally rewarding. This is something I have been considering to further my teaching experience. I plan to investigate this option further as an after hours option.
The ESA method focuses on the student’s activities and how the teacher needs to keep his/her talk time limited.
Engage, Study, Activate, I especially like the patchwork example as you reinforce what the students have learnt and challenge them all the time using this method. I believe it keeps them interested and lessens the chance of boredom
