This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit 1, I learned both what makes a good teacher and the role of a teacher in a classroom. Specifically, in a typical lesson, I learned that a teacher may take on the role of manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, resource, model or monitor. The teacher should be comfortable transitioning between these roles when appropriate. I also learned what makes a good learner. These qualities will have an impact on the classroom environment and might affect how a teacher wants to run their classroom. The qualities of a good learner include age, learning experience, motivation, nervousness, language awareness, behavior problems, life experience, culture and first language, and language level. Language level can be separated into 6 stages. Additionally, there are many factors which may impact the motivation of a student and those should be taken into consideration when teaching.
