There are five conditionals:
Zero conditional used for irrefutable facts-if/when+ present tense, present tense
First conditional used for possible future-if+ present simple, will
Second conditional used for impossible situation-if+ past simple, would/could/might+ base form
Third conditional used for hypothetical past-if+ past perfect, would/could/might+ have+ past participle
Mixed conditional used for hypothetical situation in mixed tense differences
Furthermore, it is extremely tense sensitive when one uses \"reported speech\" as well.
Tense changes from present to past, simple to perfect, continuous to perfect continuous, and will to would. Pronouns and time expressions are going to change in the context accordingly.
