This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This is the unit about planning lessons. A lesson plan includes a number of items such as: class level, language point, learner objectives, personal aims, anticipated problems and solutions and procedure. I have found most useful the example of a standard lesson plan format because it shows a typical lesson plan when you look at it from the ESA point of view. After studying the format, I’ve come up to the conclusion that at my work (teaching primary and secondary school students), I tend to put a lot of emphasis on the study stage and to devote little time to the other two stages (engagement and activation). It is also important being aware that in general you have to remain flexible so as to being able to divide the stages when necessary. In some cases engage>study>activate is enough to reach the goals of the class, while in other cases any of those stages need more than just one part.
