This unit focused on the lesson planning aspect of teaching and how an instructor should and can prepare his or herself for a lesson. Much of this planning includes developing and laying out a simple and flexible, yet adequate format complete with all of the activities of the lesson, as well as the time allotted for each. As touched upon, the key to the development of any lesson plan is including the requisite material yet also maintaining a large degree of flexibility so as to be able to adapt to any unforeseen issues during the lesson.
Particularly helpful for much of this is the listing of \"learner objectives,\" or things you want the students to be able to do by the end of the lesson, by the instructor for his or her own use. The benefit of these is that the instructor will have a target or goal by which to work toward and thereby allowing them to maintain flexibility yet stay on course.
