This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was about teaching English to special groups. These groups include beginners, children, business groups and mono and multilingual classes. There was a description of each group and the pros and cons of teaching each group. There were also activities to use for each. I found it helpful that in the business group was a sample of a needs assessment. This assessment could also be modified for use with other adult learners. I think a needs assessment is very important to use as an aid when lesson planning. I also found the list of do's and don'ts helpful when teaching children. Classroom management is very important for all ages but particularly with children. I thought the idea of starting off firm at the beginning and relaxing later on to be a good point. Once the children have a clear idea of the rules and that they are consistently enforced, they will not \"test\" the teacher later on.
