This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit addressed the vital skills for those who want to master the language and those who want to be an efficient teachers: pronunciation. From this unit i’ve learned three modes of speaking, rise-fall, fall-rise and flat. First one is normally used when we want to make sure that we have finished speaking, the second one is used to when we want to show that we are agreeing with smb, that we are waiting for the return remarks, while the last one is used primarily when we are not interested or don’t have anything special to say.
Another useful aspect covered was the stress, i’ve read about general rules concerning stressing the syllables, depending on the part of speech and the number of syllables in the word.
Lastly, the unit explored the phonological rules, places of articulation and different types of sounds. That’s is definitely an area of further exploration for me.
