This unit gave a lot of detailed information about the most common methods and techniques for teaching. In my experience, “Grammar translation†and “Audio-Lingualism†seem to be the most commonly used methodologies in public schools to help students pass the tests, as opposed to the other methods mentioned in this unit which seem to be mainly used in training centers for developing better speaking skills. Focusing on the Engage-Study-Activate stages of the lessons, and the different variations of using this strategy was very helpful for me. I found all the ideas and activities for ESA stages very useful as well. Finally, I was reminded, how, what, and when the teacher should correct mistakes/errors made during all the stages of the lesson in order to not demotivate the students and at the same time to ensure that students are less likely to continue to repeat their mistakes.
