This unit focused on the other two language skills, speaking and writing. These skills are essential for communicating. When we communicate we want to be accurate and fluent. This unit demonstrated how teachers can improve each of these skills in the classroom. English can be a difficult language to learn because there are no set rules for spelling and pronunciation. It is therefore important for teachers to create lesson plans that encourage students to participate and practice without fear of making an error. Using the ESA guide, a teacher can successfully include these skills that practice both accuracy and fluency.
I also think it is important for a teacher to understand the goals of the students. In a class of adults with a higher level, speaking skills may be more important whereas in a beginner class with younger kids a focus on basic grammar and sentence structure may be more important.
