This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Respective skills are referred as Listening and Reading skills. These skills are based on pre-existent
knowledge for true understanding. There are some specialist skills when we read or listen for
example, predictive skills, scanning, skimming and so on. However, sometimes, we need to read
everything in detailed to understand fully. Also, we might need to see beyond the literal meaning of
words. To develop these skills, we, teachers can make lesson plan for students. If there are some
difficult words, before reading or listening, we can have some activities to teach vocabulary so that
students would feel comfortable and confident. Also, creating interest is important to motivate
students and get students involved in the lesson. In this Unit 7, I learned that I should consider
student’s interest and level by using various materials to practise these skills like realistic
comprehension tasks.
