This unit focuses on teaching special groups. The first portion of the unit concentrates on teaching beginners: different categories of beginners are explained and tips for teaching beginner students are provided. These include methodologies, techniques and possible problems that can be encountered during lesson. Subsequently, the teaching of individual students and children are covered. Then, the topic of teaching business English and English for specific purposes (ESP) is explained in detail: first focus is given to the clients and what they do need and want from the course. Then, the concepts of needs analysis and needs negotiations are introduced and an example given. Further, guidelines on how to plan the program and things to consider before, after and during the course are outlined. To conclude, an overview of the differences between teaching monolingual and multilingual classes is given.
