In this unit, the conditionals and the direct/indirect speech were all explained. In the conditinal includes the zero, the first, the second and the third conditionals. These mainly show statements of if/when and the resultant idea. The conditions can be irrefutable statements as seen in the zero conditional e.g. if you mix equal proportions of red and yellow paint, you will get orange. The conditionals can also be hypothetical, as in the third conditional e.g. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
Direct speech has to do with the person expressing him/herself and indirect speech is what is reported by another person, so that the original speech is given in the third person. In indirect speech, we see changes such as in the form, punctuation and even the tenses of the sentence e.g.
She asked, \"Did you find my purse?\" (direct speech)
She asked whether you found her purse. (indirect speech)
