This final unit was on troubleshooting, tips to approach individual situations. The unit covered topics like first lessons, warmers, different levels, large classes, native language use, reluctant students, and difficulties with listening text. Out of all of these the most important for me is native language use. I am currently working in Japan and I have trouble with native language use every day that I work. How can I build rapport with students when we don't speak the same language, how can effectively provide instructions let alone teach some difficult grammar, or understand students when they cannot communicate in English ? While the environment is very layered and complex here I feel more empowered than before to face this topic head on. There is information I've gained through this course that will help me and I will incorporate it into my on the ground experience here as much as I am able.
