This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit introduced a number of language learning methodologies, discussing their strengths and weaknesses, while introducing the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) methodology as a synthesis of the best parts of all of them. While the first part of the unit served as an informative look at a number of different language learning methodologies, the second part provided an in-depth view of the ESA method, describing the function and merits of the three-stage process, along with suggested activities and teaching tactics for each stage. I took some extra time to study and absorb the content of this unit, as I felt that there was a lot of information within that would benefit me greatly in my future teaching experiences. After finishing the unit, I now feel that I have the ability to compose a basic lesson plan using the ESA framework, with a number of ideas for organizing activities within each stage.
