This unit focused on the productive skills, speaking and writing. Some of the important notes to take from this unit include knowing the difference between accurate activities, which are focused on producing correct language, and fluency activities, which focuses on the students being able to be creative and experiment with the language. The accurate activities are done during the study phase whereas the fluency activities are done in the activate phase. The unit expresses the importance of preparing for speaking exercises and offers several techniques to encourage interaction, such as pair/group work, careful planning, and making speaking activities meaningful.
The writing portion focuses on handwriting, spelling, punctuation, and creative writing. The unit goes over a typical writing activity and provides links to several games that could be played to increase involvement in English based games.
