This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 deals with teaching pronunciation which is a vital aspect of language learning. For me, this has been the second most useful unit of the course so far (the first one being unit 3 about teaching techniques). The point is that most of my pronunciation learning took place through practice rather than learning theory. In fact, when I got my degree as a Spanish-English translator, Phonetics was a hard nut to crack because it was so full of rules and exceptions that you ended up doubting about the right pronunciation of the easiest sounds. Now, after reading the unit I feel more confident about teaching pronunciation because the explanation focuses on the most important rules. Since the unit is so well organized into three distinctive parts: intonation, stress and articulation, it becomes an excellent introductory explanation making this complex part of language learning rather easy to understand.
