This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was very challenging for me as I am a native English speaker and have never officially learned the basic rules of the English grammar. The usage was simply acquired through natural everyday conversations when growing up. A current teacher of younger students, I have only really dealt with nouns, verbs, conjunctions, adjectives and adverbs. I look forward to using this new and more refined knowledge (transitive and intransitive verbs, comparative/superlative adjectives etc.) with the upper grades. I should also feel more confident in answering those grammar questions asked by my foreign-speaking friends. There is, after all, a high level of expectation set for an English primary teacher living in Switzerland. To summarise, the 'Parts of Speech' unit has been a very beneficial introduction, and I shall continue extending my knowledge in this area by reading some of the recommended material.
