This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I learned a lot about the specifics of grammar in this chapter. Most notably, I was unaware of many of the more specific terminologies for each part of speech. For instance, I am of course familiar with the idea of using adjectives to describe specific differences, but did not know that they were deemed superlatives. Additionally, until now, I had never heard of the term 'gerund' before, but it makes sense that this would need its own terminology as it does not happen as frequently in some of the other languages I have studied. Finally, I found it interesting that no rules for contractions were included in this chapter. While they are not necessarily 'proper' English, they are still widely used. It is probably best to not teach contractions until students have a better understanding of the English language, but they are sure to run into them immediately after traveling to an English speaking country.
