This unit discussed the use of coursebooks and lesson materials in class. The difference between created and authentic materials was first discussed, including advantages and disadvantages for each. Examples of created materials were then given, such as crosswords, word search, flash cards, etc. Different types of course books were then discussed, as well as things to consider when choosing a book. The end of the unit talked about the best uses for course books, and different options for course book use.Studying this unit has been a very insightful and refreshing experience. It was insightful because it took me even deeper into what life as an English teacher would be like. It was also a very interesting study unit because I got to learn about the present tenses and its various aspects, how to use each one of them, the common mistakes my students would make and how to correct them. Personally, after having completed this unit, I feel like I moved one step closer to starting my journey as a TEFL teacher.
