This unit was very helpful because I was able to pull apart the English language to comprehend grammar. It was a great refresher and easy way to pull apart a sentence and describe it word for word. I was able to grasp a good concept of the different parts of speech. It was a great because I remember learning all of this from school, so this dove into a deeper level and was able to break everything down in a simple way. This was easy for me to understand which will in turn, make it easy for my kids to understand.After reading unit seven I have learned how important receptive skills are and the different ways of listening and reading. A persons motives will determine whether a person is reading for a purpose or for entertainment. Whether or not they will need to scan, skim, or pay attention in detail to whatever it is they are reading. In order to get your students to listen you need to choose a topic that interests them, pre-teach difficult vocabulary, and vary the types of material that you are using during the lesson.
