This unit is about conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are sentences containing \"if\" referring to past, present and future possibilities. I have learned how to use and recognize the main conditionals. The five main conditionals are: Zero Conditional (If/when + present tense, present tense), First Conditional (if + present simple, will), Second Conditional (If + past simple, would + verb), Third Conditional (If + past perfect, would + have + past participle) and the Mixed Conditional (If + past perfect, would + verb). The unit also contains useful teaching ideas such as Split sentences and Chain conditionals. The second part is about reported speech and direct speech. We use reported speech when we are saying what other people say, think or believe. I have learned about the changes that take place when we turn direct speech into reported speech and that there is an exception to most rules.
