I realized that the video was a comprehensive video of both units 11 and 12. So I read though all the notes again to see the differences between receptive and productive skills. This unit was a focus on just the productive skills which are speaking and writing. This unit went over why we communicate to each other, why students may not talk in class, and also ways to encourage student interaction. A good underlining thought is to give your lesson purpose through fun activities. The written notes cover all sorts of fun activities to use in the classroom. Towards the end of the notes there were resource links. Those seem very helpful. I think having clear and easy sample lessons with all of the phases is going to be what helps the most when I plan my own lessons. Seeing how activities build on each other and keep the lesson moving in a clear and purposeful way is going to improve my own lesson planning.
