This unit was really beneficial to me because it gave practical advice for the teacher on how to approach speaking and writing lessons with addressing what to before, during and after an activity. Before that, it addressed various problems some teachers may experience with engaging the students and encouraging them to speak. Overall, I found this lesson to be very practical and will be one I will be referencing as I address the social environment of the classroom with these output activities.I've always known that receptive skills are really important, but always felt it's gonna be a great challenge for me to pass on these skills to my students without a bunch of problems. Reading through this unit, I learned the importance of receptive skills and problems that might face the students regarding the language, topic and tasks. Furthermore, I learned that pre-teaching difficult and new vocabulary always helps. Finally, introducing the practical ESA Straight Arrow outline was awesome.
