Speaking and writing are two productive skills used to output language accuracy and fluency. Accuracy is monitored by the teacher using controlled activities such as drilling and prompting. Creative communication encourages a comfortable environment for the students to freely express their new vocabulary. Spelling vocabulary is important so there are not ingrained mistakes. English is not a phonetic language so it is challenging to learn. Games are also a good source of vocabulary practice.Obviously lesson 1 is not the way to teach anybody! No engagement, no recognition of students, put-downs, dull, no explanations given, etc, etc. Lesson 2 was much better however the lecturer referred to animals the students would not necessarily have ever come across. Here the lecturer should have had at least pictures of the animals, however a video showing the habits/actions of the animals would have been better e.,g to show what 'crawl' really means rather than just stating 'like a soldier'.
