Although I had learned all of the material from Chapter 2 in elementary school, it was very valuable to have a refresh on the information. Being that English is my first language, I am able to formulate these sentences without having to put much thought into them. I am naturally able to decipher if a sentence is grammatically correct or incorrect simply by hearing or reading it. However, I may not always be able to explain the grammatical breakdown and reasoning behind the sentence. Therefore, by reviewing these grammatical sentence components and knowing why we use specific words in specific places, I can become a better teacher for students trying to learn English. You cannot expect someone to grasp a difficult concept if you are not explaining the reasoning behind the concept. The more confident I can become in these grammatical concepts, the more effective of a learning experience I can provide my student.
