There can be a big difference between teaching children and teaching adults, including levels of motivation,and the knowledge and experience with the target language. While teaching children may be difficult, due to behavioral disruptions, many find it a very satisfying endeavor. Teachers should be aware that some in-class disruption could be caused by a negative environment at the students home. However, bad behavior is often caused by simple boredom, and it is the teacher's job to make the lesson as captivating as possible to the students.
Teaching special groups, such as classes at a business, pose their own set of problems as well. It is important for the teacher to remember that he or she does not need to be an expert in the student's industry; the role of the teacher is to be an expert in the English language. That said, it never hurts to familiarize oneself with the industry under whom one is employed.
