This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
While reading about the role of a good teacher, I reflected back on some on my language teachers and how they acted out these different teaching roles and what I found to be effective. Because I have studied another language (mostly French) in an immersion experience, I can relate to the importance of being a good teacher. I know what to do to be a good student, but this unit brought out small problems and complications in how to be a good teacher. For example, how do you find a balance to correct the students' grammar when they speak but without making them feel stupid and self-conscious? I think you can make these small corrections more in upper level classes because students feel more confident and need to iron out small accuracy problems (this was illustrated in the language levels part of the unit). Since I am not a teacher, I found it useful to think about how learners at different ages learn differently.
