This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit explained that there are 7 tenses used for speaking about the future. These tenses are the future simple, the future continuous, the future perfect, the future perfect continuous, be going + infinitive, the present simple and the present continuous. It was interesting to realize that we could use present tenses to speak about the future and not only strictly future tenses. It seems this is the only time period where we can mix and match the different uses of tenses to suit are language needs. The unit also went over the use of shall vs. will. It was interesting to learn that shall is used pretty much exclusively in the UK. Shall can be used interchangeably with will but actually communicates and idea with more formality and for this reason might even seem to be more polite depending on the context. Will on the other expresses more determination and therefore provides less wiggle room to the listener.
