Although I had already been familiar with the structures of the four past tense forms, this unit helped me to clarify when and how we use them. To put it another way, this unit explained the various uses in very concise and clear terms, something of which will be very useful in the classroom. If for, for example, I am trying to explain the past continuous to a class, I can clearly and concisely explain to them that it used to convey a continuing event in the past. Or in the case past perfect, I can state that this tense is \"the past seen from the past.\" Finally, in the case past perfect continuous, I can merely tell my students that it indicates a past continuous action that marks something that had begun before a past event yet was still in progress at the time of that past event. Once again, all of these explanations were extremely helpful and something of which I will find extremely useful in the classroom.
