This unit covered a significant amount of material. While reading through the unit I took note of a couple of things that I think will be important when it comes to teaching this material. The first observation is that the phrasal verbs appear to analogous to the verb+complement structure in Standard Chinese; therefore, I think that this particular grammar point should be easier to an extent for Chinese students to pick up relative to other grammar points. The second observation is that the passive voice is used quite frequently in English, something that it not mirrored by Chinese. Since I have an interest in working with Chinese students, I expect that I will need to spend extra time on the passive voice as compared to the phrasal verbs. In regards to the modal verbs; they have rough equivalents in Standard Chinese; therefore, I think that the expected difficulty of that grammar point will be of a medium level.
