From this unit, I've learned the different roles a teacher can and must have. In my opinion, the best teacher roles are: the model because it can possibly be the students only example of English they've ever had. So, it is the teacher's responsibility to ensure the student understands and is correctly pronouncing the vocabulary and using the correct grammar. The facilitator because it gives the student a feeling of independence the boosting the students confidence within the language. And lastly, the prompter. I like this role because it is a mixture of the two roles mentioned before. The teacher is only there to assist the student, and to encourage what the student may already know. Done properly, the student will be even more motivated to learn further. In closing, I've learned that it is the teacher's job to carry out the student's learning journey to completion, or at least give the student the tools to do so.
