This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I think this was a good breakdown of a difficult topic. Present tense has a large amount of options, that you could spend a lot of time on just a few parts. I think in class application, I would have a lot of focus on Active stage of the class; I would get the class using these very often to get used one part before moving to another present tense variation. I would do this because, since there are so many parts, it presents the opportunity for confusion, which can lead to boredom. If I was teaching, after covering the first tense lesson, I would open with a question similar to what was learned, but it would be in a new tense. I wouldn't expect anyone to know the correct way of answering, but that's how I would get them introduced to the tense difference and its importance. Example;lesson 1 (present simple) What do you eat? I eat pizza. And then lesson 2 (present continuous) What are you eating? I am eating pizza.
