Following on from the previous discussions of integrative skills and receptive skills, we are now introduced to components of productive skills-Speaking and Writing with initial differentiation between the accuracy and fluency of each, an explanation for each and how and when they are applied during the typical Engage, Study, Activate lesson format. Within the context of student learning of each, there are essential considerations that need to be made relative to what students should focus on in order to improve both, i.e.., speaking - confidence, practice, opportunities, motivation, feedback and with writing, i.e., pronunciation, spelling, punctuation and to a lessor degree, penmanship or writing style. With an aim to both motivating and providing a platform to applying/practicing productive skills, the use of games, either for cooperative or competitive purpose are recommended with examples of some games offered.
