This unit taught about different kinds of assessments. It talked about tutorials, evaluation by students, and tests. Tutorials give an overview of what was learned over a specific time frame and see what students learned. Evaluation by students is when you ask students to evaluate the course to see where it could be adjusted to better meet their needs. The unit introduced several kinds of tests; placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests, external exams, and the Cambridge Assessment.
I learned that placement tests are used to first place a student into a specific level of the course. Progress tests are continual and let teachers know how students are progressing throughout the unit. Diagnostic tests come before a unit to see what students know and are ready to know. Practice tests prepare students for external exams. External exams are used to prove a students level on an international basis.
