The English language consists of vocabulary, grammar, and functions. In which grammar is the tree trunk, and vocabulary and functions are the leaves. To teach vocabulary, selecting the right vocabulary is as critical as teaching techniques. The vocabulary should be applied to student's frequent uses. And as a good vocabulary class, the teaching should be covered with six aspects; meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling, and pronunciation.
And the ESA and ESA patchwork grammar lesson really impressed me. In my country, the traditional grammar class is the teacher write the grammar forms and patterns, then give examples. And for the student, just do the worksheet after class. There's no discussion, communication and analyzing activities. The whole class is the teacher talking all the time, and students taking notes all the time.
And I've also learned how to teach language functions. This unit is very useful.
