This unit showed that it is interesting to get an idea of why the student wants to learn english e.g. in a placement test, because one can get an idea of interests, fluency and motivation from it. Also, the regular progress tests are a great way to monitor student learning and to then give targeted practice after that. Also, using all four skills in a test - including speaking skills where a student can talk to the teacher, as well as listening, writing, and reading. The example of a placement test seemed not too long, and ok to be given at the start of a course. Although I may screen out total beginners to not waste time first. Tutorials were also interesting, such as at the end of the week to go over work. Also, feedback from the students is an important part - e.g. the level of english, if anything else can be focused on or if all 4 skills are being taught, or if anything practice again. So, feedback is important.
