This unit is very similar to the last, it focuses on how to address and teach certain skill sets in the english language-- this unit was on productive skills, speaking and writing. Productive skills deal primarily with creating language, instead of just understanding. Here there are two main aspects-- fluency and accuracy. Fluency being the ability to be creative and use language to express a variety of ideas, and accuracy being using the language properly with correct vocabulary and grammatical structures. Both are important, but in an ESA structure usually Study is focused on accuracy and Activate on fluency. Also, when teaching writing a teacher must focus on spelling, handwriting, and punctuation along with the language and grammar itself. This makes the students writing as fluent and accurate as possible. There are a lot of great ideas for activities and ESA structures to teach writing and speaking in this unit.
