This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 9 thoroughly explained the importance of a lesson plan. It's useful because it acts as visual reminder of what a teacher hopes to accomplish for a lesson. Without being able to constantly monitor class progress, teaching a class successfully will be difficult. I believe one of the most important elements of the lesson plan are timing, and being prepared for anticipated problems. As time goes on, it will become easier to flow through the main points of an English lesson, but as the students become better, they may want more time to talk about topics, and in problems like this is where timing is important. An TEFL teacher wants the students to be excited about communicating, but it can't be at the cost of the rest of the lesson. Class time is not unlimited, so time use must be planned well, a good teacher must be able to judge what is worth giving more time to, and what is something that can be omitted in a lesson.
