Unit 15 covers all the ways of testing the abilities of students during the year so that one can evaluate their knowledge and language learning abilities.
Placement tests are important as they allow the teacher to place the students in the correct class according to their language, grammer and vocabulary ability. It also helps the students to communicate and participate more freely and confidently at their required level.
Progress tests are important as they allow the teacher to evaluate the amount of information that the students were able to absorb throughout the year. Such tests also encourage the students to review and revise there own activities.
Diagnostic tests are given to the students at the beginning to evaluate what they already know and the teacher is then able to prepare his/her lessons according to the areas of difficulty identified by this test.
Practice tests prepare the students for external exams.
