The information covered in unit 5, “ managing classes†serves to inform the reader about the factors one should take into consideration to keep their classroom under control. It calls for a balance of upholding the rules and culture of one’s specific institution, fostering and paying attention to the “students to student†as well as “student to teacher†dynamic, becoming aware of how to act in different class behavioral situations for the benefit of all learners involved. The most helpful tips for me specifically were: the discourse on teacher talk time verse student talk time, the tips on the proper temperament of the teacher to keep class engages and moving towards their lesson objectives, and the section on preventions of problem behavior. It is far better to prevent disruptions and misbehavior at the beginning that to try and undo a pattern of behavior after it has been solidified.
