Teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) does not mean the the teacher has to be proficient in the field of which their students are working. What is important is that the teacher has a broad knowledge of the English language. There are many general terminologies relating to the teaching of Business English such as : EAP (English for Academic Purposes), ELT (general term for English Language Teaching), TEFL (Teaching of English as a Foreign Language) and TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) to name a few. Prospects for a teacher of ESP may include teaching private clients or one to one, teaching at a language school or center, or teaching within a company (in house).
