In Unit 5: Managing Classes, ideas for classroom management are discussed. There are many dependent factors in classroom management, including the personality and role of the teacher, as well as the students. Student age, nationality, personality, class size, and more should be taken into account when considering how to set up the classroom physically, as well as deciding on the kind of group/pair/individual work the students will be participating in. There is also plenty of information on how the teacher should appear physically, including eye contact, gestures, when the teacher must stand and when they must sit, etc. Finally, there is information on how to properly build rapport within the classroom (between the teacher and students, and between students), and how to discipline students as well. Overall, this unit was very informative as to how classroom dynamics are both complex and important to the learning process.
