This unit deals with the different methods and techniques of teaching English Language. Some of this methods includes Grammar – translation, Audio Lingualism, presentation, practice and production, task based learning, communicative language teaching, Community Language Learning.
The unit also brings out the best teaching method known as the ENGAGE, STUDY AND ACTIVE METHOD which gives the teacher a great deal of flexibility, motivate students to answer questions that is increases the talk time of students and decreases the talk time of teachers which has an effect on less teacher telling and more student discovery. Some examples of elicitation are: Real objects, pictures, drawings, Ask for the Questions, Gap-fill, Lists, Follow- on questions, Concept descriptions, mime, and definitions.
