Unit 15 introduces the reader to a variety of tests learners of English might encounter. Teachers of English as a foreign language will most certainly have to make use of some if not all of the different testing methods. What I found most interesting was the difference between a placement test and a diagnostic test. To me at the start of a course it seems as though it could be essential to incorporate both of these test. The placement test helps to make sure that students are enrolled into the correct language level class while the diagnostic test helps the teacher learn more about what students enrolled in their language level classes already know or do not know about the English language. It is so important that students are placed in the level most appropriate to them and once they are it is of equal importance that teachers make sure that there are not gaps in their knowledge before moving forward with new material.
