Unit 7 covers the topic of Teaching New Language: vocabulary, grammar, and functions. Each component of this unit is an important one when teaching and learning a new language. Students may have a good deal of vocabulary in their new language, but they may struggle putting it together because they lack the knowledge of grammatical structures and language functions that may be more difficult to understand. One major takeaway from this unit for me was that there are four things a student needs to be able to do with a new language: be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how it's constructed, and be able to practice and produce it. These four elements should guide teachers when preparing and implementing lesson units. Unit 7 then goes on to give practical examples of what to teach and how to teach the various components of vocabulary, grammar, and functions, including giving sample ESA lessons for each component.
