My personal viewpoint of curricula comes from my own education around curriculum development. Despite how poorly constructed some textbooks may be, there is an order and reason for the design and set-up of these books. Teachers should only experiment with the restructuring or major supplementing of a textbook if they are an experience teacher or working within a group that contains experienced teachers.
I have myself thought that an order to a book was incorrect and tried to switch up how things were taught based on my own beliefs. Sometimes I was correct in my thinking and sometimes I was certainly wrong. Its better as a new teacher to let the textbook worry about the structure, so you can instead focus your time and effort on specific lesson planning and management of the class. With greater experience and knowledge of how the students learn things, a teacher is better prepared to reorder how a course is delivered.
