One of the shortest units but a necessary one as it deals with the actual material that the teacher will present to the student in the classroom. There is a theme in the unit of constantly keeping material fresh, up-to-date and topical so as to keep the students guessing and interesting, an idea that I agree with. The ideas I got from it generally are that the course material can and probably should form the spine and skeleton of the English learning activities in certain aspects and it will be necessary to build flesh around the guidelines if coursebooks are already provided or used as part of the curriculum. One ought not to become to reliant on any one coursebook however and it is imperative that new exercises and ideas are introduced that are relevant and stimulating to students. I also drew from this unit that getting students to use and interact with authentic native English-speaking material, if possible, would be ideal.
