I really enjoyed this unit because of several reasons. First and foremost, I am a visual learner so I appreciated being able to see a real life classroom scenario in action reading than simply reading about it. The two videos demonstrated to me the difference between effective and ineffective lessons. In the first video, the teacher was boring, pretentious and was generally unaware of his role in the classroom in relation to his students. He did not explain concepts and instructions clearly nor did he engage the students in the lesson. The second video showed a lesson that was completely opposite to the first in terms of student participation and the teacher’s overall attitude. Although I clearly hope to be a teacher similar to the one in the second video, I know that if I run into issues while teaching, this course has provided me with many helpful suggestions on how to address and remedy any number of potential obstacles.
