In this unit I have learned that stress and intonation is very important in English. Stressing words incorrectly gives them an unnatural sound. I have also learned that sentence intonation has rise and fall options. When a speaker expects a reply from an audience the sentence will end with a rise in intonation and when no reply is expected, it ends with a falling tone. So that means it would just be a statement when the tone goes down at the end of the sentence.
Teachers can ensure students understand and practice correct intonation and stress so that their speech doesn't sound flat.
